About The Critic

Greetings, oh faithful readers! My name is Joe Marino, but I will be known on here as “The Self-Proclaimed Film Critic.” Now yeah, I realize that I have my work cut out for me in competition to the hundreds of other critics who migrate online. We all sit at our computers, demanding your attention and your readership. So how am I different? Simple. I actually love movies.

But even more importantly, I don’t think like your average critic. Sure, I write like one. But my opinions and my thoughts on why I do or do not like a film is based on the same ideas that most audiences have.

I write reviews for one simple reason – because I need to talk about movies. I write reviews because I love movies. I can’t get enough of them. Never have, and probably never will. This also means I’ve seen a lot of movies. So I think its fair to say that I am, at the very least, qualified to have an opinion. I have more to say and more to compare to (both in films and in performances) than constantly referring to the latest blockbuster action films.

Well, that’s really all I can say to justify my existence as a film critic. Now if you’ve made it this far, perhaps you’ll go a little farther. Read one of my reviews. See if you like what I have to say. And if you do… well… in the words of one of the greatest movie-ending quotes of all time, “I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.”
